Stephanie Becomes a Businesswoman
When Stephanie and I began our coaching relationship she was a self-employed cook, working out of her tiny apartment and “looking for focus.” It was important to her that her work reflect her deep passion for good nutrition. Like many entrepreneurs, she wanted to do good in the world while also running a financially-viable business. Our coaching sessions provided the accountability that helped Steph to get things done in a way that she’d previously been unable to master. She’s enjoyed having someone to bounce ideas off and a structure in which to explore and implement her creative ideas. Steph now works alongside a business partner in a commercial kitchen and has significantly expanded her line of products and her profits. She recently noted with some surprise that she’s become a “businesswoman.” I expect her business will continue to grow in myriad ways that feed her customers and her own soul.
Chris Puts One Foot in Front of the Other While Releasing her Limiting Beliefs about Exercise
Like so many people, Chris came to coaching to help her deal with a demanding workplace and some unresolved family issues. She also had some health concerns and said she knew she would feel better in many ways if she could commit to getting some physical exercise; she just couldn’t seem to bring herself to do it. Her aversion to activity was extreme, even though intellectually it didn’t make sense to her. We explored some of the societal beliefs Chris had taken on (like “no pain, no gain”). It seemed that those beliefs, combined with the feeling that she’d shouldered tremendous responsibility as a child, made exercise feel like one more obligation, a chore to rebel against. After using EFT to neutralize some of these feelings, she was able to see that she had a choice to actually enjoy physical activity. We then went on to discuss what types of activity she might enjoy. Chris said she’d always liked walking although she hadn’t thought of it as exercise or made room for it in her schedule. After adjusting her daily routine, she now finds time to walk and sees it as a vital, ENJOYABLE component of her self-care.
Alex Finds a New Best Friend: Himself
When he arrived for his first coaching session, Alex had recently left a long-term relationship that he described as emotionally draining. He was looking for some support as he tried to decide what to do next. After releasing much of the resentment he felt at being alone, he decided the best thing he could do for himself was to focus on attracting and developing platonic friendships. Somewhere along the way, using EFT to deal with various issues and feelings that surfaced around those friendships, he began to understand that he could be his own best ally. He's now committed to nurturing himself the way he would nurture anyone else he cared about.
Robert Learns to Manage his Stress AND his Staff
Robert works in an an environment that would have many people running for cover! He faces a number of complex issues involving poor staff interactions, budgeting constraints and a clientelle that can be very high needs. Using EFT, Robert has learned to diffuse his own emotional reactions to stressful situations. With a clear mind, he can then do the strategic planning that allows him to come up with creative solutions. Since we began our coaching relationship, Robert reports that he is much more relaxed and confident at work and at home.
